Rachel Elliott

As a child, Rachel Elliott studied piano at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and the Purcell School. She then went on to specialise in singing at Selwyn College, Cambridge and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she studied with David Pollard.

In 1994 Rachel sang the part of Jonathas in Charpentier's opera David et Jonathas on a month's tour of England, France and Switzerland under the direction of William Christie with the Academie Baroque Europeene. Since then she has built up a career as a soloist and consort singer mainly in the field of Early Music. She has worked regularly with such ensembles as Les Arts Florissants, Il Seminario Musicale, I Fagiolini, Concordia and Florilegium. She has appeared in recital at, amongst others, the Lincoln Center in New York, the Theatre de Chatelet in Paris and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Rachel's many solo recordings include cantatas by Rameau with New Chamber Opera for ASV, solo motets by Vivaldi with the Ensemble Brillante for AdmSon and Gibbons consort songs with Concordia for Metronome. Additionally she has appeared often on radio in the UK and throughout Europe.

Recent projects have included a CD and concert to accompany the current Titian exhibition at the National Gallery and a recital at the Wigmore Hall.

During this summer Rachel will give recitals in Provence and Ibiza!!
