Musica Fabula

Musica Fabula, directed by historical harpist, Jan Walters, returns to Acton Court with dancer/guitarist, Steven Player, for a lively programme of 16th and 17th century music from England and Italy. Steven Player is one of the leading performers of ’’Early Dance’’, a player of the Baroque guitar and an actor of the Commedia dell arte. He plays and dances worldwide, with leading ensembles of Early Music, The Harp Consort, Musica Fabula and Los Otros to name a few. His passion is that music and dance, from whatever period, should be given equal status and be reunited by the people who perform them. Expect an enchanting afternoon of haunting melodies, toe-tapping dance rhythms, plus a few surprises.

Henry’s Film Club

A chance to see Alexander Korda’s 1933 production of The Private Life of Henry VIII in the atmospheric surroundings of Acton Court. The film stars Charles Laughton, Robert Donat, Elsa Lanchester and Merle Oberon. In this sweeping chronicle, the 16th century monarch is magnificently captured by Oscar-winning Laughton in a multi-faceted performance. (One of Acton Court’s guides will be on hand to address any ‘historical inaccuracies’).
