Special Events 2009Sunday 28 JuneThe King’s ThroneA talk by Linda HallIn celebration of the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Henry VIII, architectural historian Linda Hall will give a talk on the history of privies, with special attention to the jewel of Acton Court, Henry’s en suite. She will also be looking at other surviving rural privies in Gloucestershire, including Cromwell’s bog. ‘Down the Garden Path’ and copies of Linda’s other books will be for sale on the day. Acton Court is host to several species of owl and these are often (though not guaranteed) to be seen or heard in the evenings.
