The King’s Throne

A talk by Linda Hall
In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the coronation of
Henry VIII, architectural historian Linda Hall will give a talk on the history of privies, with special attention to the jewel of Acton Court, Henry’s en suite. She will also be looking at other surviving rural privies in Gloucestershire, including Cromwell’s bog. ‘Down the Garden Path’ and copies of Linda’s other books will be for sale on the day.

Anniversary Owl Prowls

Join broadcaster and conservationist, Chris Sperring MBE, for an evening of owl lore and information followed by a conducted Owl Prowl in the grounds. Acton Court is host to several species of owl and these are often (though not guaranteed) to be seen or heard in the evenings. This year we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Hawk and Owl Trust, Britain’s premier bird of prey and owl conservation group.
