The site will be open for artists of all abilities to come and paint at Acton Court. Resident artist, Lisa Kopper, will be available to give assistance if required. Please note: bring your own materials, any media except oil paints.

Tudors, Toilets and Outer-Space

A talk by Adam Hart-Davis
Author and broadcaster Adam Hart-Davis weaves history together in his own inimitable fashion: covering topics as diverse as Tudor inventions, toilets and the cosmos. His numerous television programmes include What the Tudors Did for Us?The Cosmos, A Beginner’s Guide and more recently, How Britain was Built. Adam Hart-Davis will be available to sign copies of his books which will be for sale on the day.

The Hungerford Household

The Hungerford Household returns to Acton Court, bringing history to life as servants and gentry prepare for the King’s visit. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk with the characters and participate in preparing food, crafts and entertainments in readiness for the Court’s arrival. The Hungerford Household re-enactors have been bringing Tudor times to life at historic houses and museums throughout the UK for over 16 years. Acton Court provides a perfect setting for this exciting event. An entertainment for all the family.

Festival of British Archaeology Event

As part of the National Festival of Archaeology sponsored by the Council for Britain, Rob Bell, the archaeologist who directed  the excavation works at Acton Court, will conduct tours of the house and grounds, focusing on the archaeology and the study of  the standing building. Rob is co-author of the English Heritage monograph on the evolution of Acton Court.

11am, 2pm. Tickets: £6 (£5 concessions)
